Midjourney produces the most aesthetically consistent images of any generator, particularly for illustration, concept art, and anything with a strong visual style. It runs through Discord or its own web app, and the workflow is prompt-driven rather than canvas-driven, which suits people who can describe what they want but cannot draw it. A subscription is required with no free tier.
Who it is for
A concept artist or illustrator who needs a consistent visual style across a deck or a series of assets.
Key features
- Style reference and character reference flags
- Upscaling and variation on any grid image
- Web editor alongside the Discord bot
- Stealth mode hides generations on top tier
- No free tier, subscription required
- Commercial rights depend on plan level
Where it falls short
Precise control over composition and text rendering is weaker than dedicated design tools, and commercial-use terms depend on your plan tier.
Pricing
No free tier; plans start around $10 a month with a GPU-hour allowance, and the gate that surprises people is that images on the entry plan are public unless you pay for stealth mode.
